The Exciting World of Blogging

I arrived at the tutorial with twenty minutes to spare so I assumed that the day was off to a good start but alas, I was wrong.  From the get go there were many problems at the tutorial. First the SAT ended later than planned so some of the ILCers were late to the tutorial.  Also, the internet was not working for those with laptops. After we spent a good amount of time trying to connect our laptops, we decided to just use the computers in the lab. Once we got those working the fun began!
Everyone working on their blog

Right when we got on to the computers we were hard at work. We had a lot of ground to cover and so little time! We went through the basics of blogging.  From setting up our accounts to inserting our pictures, we learned so much. Everyone was fascinated by the new information that we were learning. We were all extremely focused on getting our blogs to work and to make sure that we were following each and every rule. We were told to only use Times and justify the writing.  When compared to posts that use other fonts or aren't justified, it makes complete sense to do so.

Overall the day was full of new knowledge gained. We went over our responsibilities as ILCers; what to do and what not to do. For example, being on time is a must and we must conduct ourselves as adults. However, we also went over some rules that we all laughed at, but someone had actually done those things like steal a bus. Lastly we went over the checklist for our trips to our colleges. We will be allowed one check in bag that can hold about 42 lbs, and a carry on.  Also, we received a check list that we should use to help us pack. The hard part is getting all the stuff we need into our bags. After this tutorial I feel even more excited for the trip! Now I can't wait to get to go through all the dinners and meetings, and finally get to Columbia.  It all feels so much more real now!

  1. I have to say, Anmol, that your thoughts about the way that things worked--or didn’t--were much kinder than my own. It was very frustrating trying to conduct a hands-on tutorial when we couldn't access the sites we needed with the tools we needed to use.
