I think I have been getting into the routine of school again. It's still hard but I'm glad that I am able to wake up later since class does not start until about 10 AM. Today we reviewed an article about George Washington and the Jay Treaty and the Constitution. This was first time I had actually read the Constitution so this was interesting. I probably won't be reading it for fun but it was something else; it was made of some unique articles.
I am intimidated by my class though. Everyone is extremely smart and confident enough to participate in class which makes me really nervous. I am scared to say answers because they are so smart but I'm getting to know my classes more so its not as bad anymore. I learned a lot today also about the Marbury v. Madison case and how the judicial system works. I like how this class is not just about presidents but about other important historical facts. This is so unlike the APUSH course that I had taken at school, but I am really enjoying myself.
My day went on with a happy note because I realized that I want to write my paper on FDR and his policies during the Great Depression. I think that this subject is unique and also it's has a lot of information. I know I can write about 4000 to 5000 words about third topic. I have to narrow my topic but I am so glad that I got it approved by my professor. He is a great lecturer and I have already learned so much about American History. I knew some things but he has taught me a lot about things like Marbury v. Madison and the Constitutional Convention.
The day also ended on a happy note because I went on a RA trip to a self defense class. It was more like a taekwondo class. Now I feel that I can take on the world. Hopefully nothing ever happens to me but it's better to be safe than sorry. I will feel a lot safer when I go out because I know I can protect myself more. All big cities are scary at night and they are not extremely safe either, so I think everyone should know how to protect themselves. I realized that one thing I love is that Columbia is beautiful at night. It is gorgeous with huge buildings and twinkling lights!
This is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. I am already scared of leaving because I want to stay with these amazing girls and do so many things! Columbia is simply breathtaking and I feel like it's a campus that you can't really describe with words. You have to come and experience it, because it's just something else.
